Showers we fit, and how each one is supplied

  • Electric shower

It heats cold mains water itself, so it doesn't rely on your hot water. It needs its own electrical supply.

  • Mixer shower

It blends hot and cold water, fed from your existing hot water.

  • Power shower

A mixer shower with a built‑in pump, for low water pressure where your hot water system can take a pump: we check that at the visit.

  • Pumped shower

A separate shower pump added to a mixer where your system allows it, usually hidden in a cupboard or under the bath.

Over the bath, or on a tray with a screen or a single walk-in glass panel. For a level floor with no tray, see wet room installation.

Replacing a bath or an old shower

Bath out, shower in. We remove the bath, fit a shower tray, move the waste pipe where the tray needs it and seal the edges. Tiles or wall panels finish the space.

An old shower for a new one. We swap it for the same type, or change type when the supply allows it: an electric shower for a mixer, for example. If your electric shower has simply stopped heating or keeps cutting out, that's a repair: see electrical repairs.

Two checks before you choose an electric or pumped shower

  • Electric showers. A new circuit, or a change to an existing circuit close to the bath or shower, is notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations (it has to be signed off under them), while a like-for-like replacement isn't: our electricians page explains how it's certified.

  • Shower pumps. Some pumps have to be notified to your water company before they go in. Our bathroom fitters page sets out when.

What's included when we fit your shower

  • Taking out the old shower, bath or tray.

  • Pipework and the waste, moved or renewed where the new layout needs them.

  • The tray or bath, the shower and the screen, fitted and sealed.

  • Waterproofing behind the tiles in the wet area, then tiling or wall panels.

  • Testing for leaks, and checking the flow and the temperature.

  • The ceiling and walls around it made good and painted by our own team.

Why book your shower fitting with us

  • Tiles off, walls put back

The marks old fixings and pipework leave are filled, plastered and painted by our own team.

  • One contractor for the whole job

The plumbing, any electrics and the decorating are in one quote, and one contractor answers for all of it.

  • Yours to check

  3. 03

We fit, test and finish on a date we agree.

What goes into the price of a new shower

  • The type of shower

a new circuit or a pump costs more than a like-for-like swap.

  • Whether the bath comes out

a tray and a moved waste are more work than a shower over the bath.

  • Tiling or panels

how much wall is covered, and in what.

  • What's behind the old one

loose tiles, soft plaster or old pipework.

Questions about shower fitting

Call 020 8249 7303

Do I need a plumber to fit a new shower?

Yes: every type of shower connects to the water supply and the waste pipe that drains it. A mixer or power shower takes both hot and cold water; an electric shower takes only cold mains water and needs its own electrical supply. We take on the plumbing and the electrics as one job.

How much does it cost to have a shower fitted?

It depends on the type of shower, whether the bath comes out and how much tiling or making good the wall needs. We price it after a free visit and give you the quote in writing.

Can the shower go over my bath instead of on a tray?

Yes. A shower over the bath with a screen keeps the bath and is less work than taking it out. A tray suits you better if stepping over the side of the bath has become hard.

Can you change an electric shower for a mixer shower?

Often, yes. A mixer shower takes its hot water from your existing hot water supply, so we check at the visit that it gives enough pressure and flow, and whether a pump is needed.

More bathroom and plumbing work

  • A dripping tap: leaking tap repair.

  • A leaking pipe or a toilet that keeps running: plumbers.

  • Walls that need more than filling after the old tiles come off: plastering.
